Mauritius, an island in Indian ocean, known for its scenic beauty and attraction has launched a scheme to attract filmmakers from India.

The Film Rebate Scheme offers 30% refund to all the Qualified Production Expenditure done by the film makers from India and China. This takes Mauritius into the league of 30% rebate nations such as Malaysia, Abu Dhabi.

This scheme was launched earlier this year by the Mauritian Ministry of Arts and Ministry of Finance and Economic affairs. Many offers have been received, out of which majority are from Indian film producers.

Mauritius earns around 1billion MUR ( Mauritian Rupee) from tourism generated from movies. And around 198 Indian movies, serials, ads are shot in Mauritius from 1977 till now.
